Doug Hyde Art

Doug Hyde Art has been enormously successful over recent years. In fact this artist has appeared from relative obscurity to enjoy literally overnight success. Doug Hyde Art is available in different mediums, including original paintings, limited edition prints and sculptures.

This artist, who states that he never intended to sell his art work commercially but in fact painted for his own personal pleasure and that of his family is now internationally acclaimed.  He was born in Bristol in 1972 and his official website states that two major influences during his childhood and consequently on his art were his older sister Emily who is disabled and the attitude to art in the art department in his school.

After leaving school, he worked both in a draughtman's office, and then went own to work as an illustrator. However, in the evenings he worked on his own personal art projects which he displayed in his house for his family and friends. The admiration by a friend of one particular painting led to a spiral of events, culminating in Doug Hyde becoming an internationally acclaimed artist. In fact it seems that there was no doubt that he was destined to be an artist.

Many in the art world dismiss his work as being too simplistic without any real depth. However, others say that it is the relative simplicity and naïve like characters which are the strength of this artist. In 2007 he was named by BBC television in the United Kingdom as one of the most well loved contemporary artist, and has also won other awards.

Fans of his work say that there is an uplifting and vibrant energy in his characters and paintings. They say that his vibrant colors and smiley characters have a positive effect on their lives. The characters in the paintings of Doug Hyde are cartoon like, and include his famous series of ‘smiley’ characters as well as cats and dogs. He paints and draws on large canvases and uses his fingers and thumbs to paint and create spaces with. He mostly works in pastels.

Of course, not all fans of this artist are able to afford one of his original paintings. In order to meet the demand for his work the artist has created a number of limited edition prints. These prints have quickly become collector’s items and are in great demand. He also brings his characters to life in three dimensional forms, with the sculpture that he creates, based on his original paintings. The sculptures are available in bronze and porcelain, and are also available from online galleries. The sculptures are normally more expensive to purchase than the limited edition prints, but have seduced many fans of his work.

In any event, there is no doubt that whatever the opinion of certain art critics; Doug Hyde Art has had enormous success in all its various mediums. He has recently returned from a gallery tour of Japan displaying Doug Hyde Art. The tour was an enormous success, with other international tours now planned.
